The Home of Fruit Juice and Value-Added Dairy Beverages in Nigeria Starts Up
CHI Limited was incorporated in Nigeria in 1980. Born with a vision to nourish Nigerians with locally produced, high-quality Fruit Juices, Value Added Dairy beverages and Snacks products.
1990 – 1999
Making Footprints in the Sands of Time
Launch of the Chivita flagship brand – Chivita 100% Fruit Juice. The product name, Chivita, is a derivative of “CHI” (the Company name) and “VITA” (a short form of vitality). Orange was the first variant launched.
1998 saw us enter the Snacks category with the launch of our first snack product, Beefie Beef Roll.
2000 – 2009
Innovate! Innovate! Innovate!
Go beyond being the first and focus on innovation. CHI Limited introduced a range of innovative product and packaging offerings, many of which were new to the Nigerian market.
We launch more fruit juice variants under the Chivita 100% brand; launched Chi Exotic in 4 variants; created the drinking yoghurt category with the launch of Hollandia Yoghurt; launched Nigeria’s first ever evaporated milk in aseptic packaging, Hollandia Evaporated Milk; rolled out Nigeria’s first locally produced ultra-high temperature pasteurized milk, Hollandia UHT Milk; and made our first entry into plant based dairy with Hollandia Soya Milk.
2010 – 2019
Breaking Boundaries and Creating New Frontiers
Constantly pushing the boundaries in the food and drink categories, we are consistently breaking our records to find new markets, new businesses and new ways of bringing nourishment to our consumers.
Never Stopping. Never Looking Back
For the first time ever, CHI Limited launches its fruit juices in the 330ml can packaging. Chi Exotic and Chivita Ice Tea become the first CHI Limited brands to be locally produced in Cans and launched to trade in 2020. In 2021, the Can range is extended to Chivita Active Zest, a new variant of the Chivita Active portfolio.
The Hollandia Yoghurt range is further extended with the launch of Hollandia Zero Yoghurt, a zero lactose, zero added sugar and zero artificial sweeteners drinking yoghurt proposition.
